Richard M. Jennings Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

    INDIAN WELLS, CA, December 14, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Richard M. Jennings a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Dr. Jennings celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Dr. Jennings has dedicated 61 years of his professional life to building America, whether it be serving in the U.S. Army or creating resorts as a developer in Colorado. He served from 1947 to 1975 to the rank of brigade commander with the U.S. Army, and was not only decorated for his service in Vietnam and Korea, he later wrote a book on the Cold War in 1975, titled "U.S./Soviet Arms Competition." Dr. Jennings is now retired, but he was well known for leading Western Resorts International in Aspen, Colorado, and for contributing to the local civic community.

Born in the nation's capital to Maurice Edgar Jennings and Norma Milburn, Dr. Jennings received a scholarship to Stanford University at age 16. He joined the U.S. Army as a private in 1945, but quickly became a second lieutenant. While serving his commission, he was able to earn a BA from Arizona State University and an MA from Georgetown University. Dr. Jennings served for one year as an assistant to the U.S. Secretary of Defense. He is most proud of earning a PhD in government from Georgetown University in 1975, the same year he retired from active military service. Dr. Jennings accrued numerous decorations for his service, including the Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, the Korean Silver Star, the Bronze Star with three oak leaf clusters, the Air Medal with seven oak leaf clusters, and the Vietnamese Gallantry Cross.

After his service with the armed forces, Dr. Jennings became president of Western Colorado Investments in 1982, and served the firm until 1989. He joined Preferred Resorts in Aspen that year, and in 1995, he became president of Western Resorts International, soon adding the title of chairman to his resume. While in Aspen, Dr. Jennings contributed to his community as president of the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, Colorado, and as a national council member of Aspen Theater in the Park. Retiring to Indian Wells, He served as president of the World Affairs Council of the Desert from 2008 to 2011, and the Stanford Club Desert in 2013. Dr. Jennings was also president of the Military Officers Association, Palm Springs Chapter, in addition to supporting the Stanford Alumni Association, the Indian Wells Tennis Club, and the Georgetown Alumni Association.

For his dedication to the armed forces and continued civic spirit, Dr. Jennings was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World, as well as two volumes of Who's Who in the West and the 2006 to 2007 volume of Who's Who in Finance and Business. He enjoys writing and playing tennis, and is the father of Lynn Urban, Stephanie, and January.
