With an impressive professional background that spans 41 years, Richard O. Keller presides over a general jurisdiction jury and court trial calendar with a docket of more than 600 cases, for which he is assigned as the trial judge. In addition to administering to his daily responsibilities at the courthouse, he is tasked with hearing cases, weighing evidence, consulting with lawyers, and preparing judgments. Prior to attaining his judicial role for the Superior Court of California, County of Alameda, Judge Keller served for many years as an AV-rated attorney. He is the author of a chapter on Alternative Sentencing, Work Furlows and County Paroles in the California Continuing Education of the Bar publication California Criminal Law and Procedure.
Judge Keller attributes his success to his perseverance and the support he receives from his family. In recognition of his accomplishments, he was named outstanding VIP of the Year by Cambridge Who's Who in 2008. He completed coursework in political science and law at Emory University and is a former member of the California Trial Court Budget Commission (1997-2004). He is a distinguished member of the California Judges Association.
