/24-7PressRelease/ -- Ever wonder what a root canal is? A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or has become infected. During the root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inner side of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Now many who are thinking about the nerve being taken out are worried that this may affect their health of their tooth. In truth, the nerve mostly provides sensory feeling to the tooth, providing the sensation of hot or cold. The absence of the nerve will not affect your everyday life functioning of the tooth. Symptoms that one may need a root canal are: severe toothache, pain upon chewing or application of pressure, prolonged sensitivity/pain to hot or cold temperatures, darkening of the tooth, swelling and tenderness in the gums, and persistent or recurring pimples on the gums.
