/24-7PressRelease/ -- For the second year in a row we consulted with the Yousei (elves) who dwell deep within the Rinkya warehouse packing and shipping Japanese goods to the rest of the world to find best selling Japanese products for this holiday season. While early deadlines loom to be sure everything is delivered before the 24th of December, they took some time out to give us the holiday picture, as they did last year.
"The emphasis in car parts has gradually shifted this year," said the Yousei on the automotive bench. "Last year it was drifting components, this year it was more utilitarian. People seem to need wheels and parts pretty much on a worldwide basis. I suppose you could say we shifted our emphasis a bit from motor sports to basic, hard to come by car parts."
"Barbie is, well...Barbie" said our Yousei contact at the toy bench. "Vintage Barbie fashions are taking center stage this year, from what we are seeing here, Christmas might not be possible without Barbie. Super Dollfies, and Antique Hina dolls are still on the top of some holiday lists, but the year's biggest surprise may be the entrance of Custom UNOA dolls into the exclusive club of high end dolls."
The music Yousei said that the market for MIJ (manufactured in Japan) and CIJ (crafted in Japan) guitars has actually grown, as he told us: " It's bigger this year across all the major types of guitars. If I have to single out a specific one, I'd have to say that "Greco" guitars are making the biggest showing this year, but none of the others are really dropping in popularity."
The collectibles bench is still the beehive of activity in the warehouse. "What we noticed," said one of the Yousei while packing, " is that we are seeing more and more European customers, especially from our new site in Italy, and they are really big on anime. Tapes, CD's, cels along with a real upsurge in toys is the notable difference this year. Mazinger Z, Steel Robot Jeeg, and Rupin the Third are the most popular characters coming through the warehouse right now, and original cels from them are bringing premiums. True antiques as well as Occupied Japan are holding their own. Investment quality pieces though perhaps a bit less in number are actually appreciating as the months go by this year. "
"You know," said cosplay/fashion maven Yousei , "I might be the only one with the same report, but Undercover and Chanel are surpassing Bathing Ape here.
