Robert J. Roland, DO, FACOI Recognized for Excellence in Medicine

Dr. Roland specializes in infectious diseases, wound care, and hyperbaric medicine

    SUMMIT, NJ, January 22, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert Roland, DO, FACOI, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine of Atlantic Health System's Overlook Medical Center, previously of Infectious Disease Specialists of New Jersey, has been recognized by Worldwide Registry for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in his profession.

Dr. Roland has 24 years of medical experience, specializing in Infectious Diseases, Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. Looking ahead, he intends to become certified in wound care in 2015 and in hyperbaric medicine in 2016. He is already board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.

Those additional certifications will add to an already impressive education. Dr. Roland is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine graduating from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, now part of A.T. Still University has a Bachelor of Science in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and an Associate of Science in radiologic technology also from Fairleigh Dickinson. He had gained experience as an X-ray technician before he decided to attend medical school.

Dr. Roland attributes his success to putting in long hours, collaboration with other quality professionals and his wife, who is a nurse and serves as a continuous source of support. He was influenced to pursue his profession by his family physician, who was very motivational.

Recently inducted into Worldwide Registry, Dr. Roland also maintains affiliations with the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Internists, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists since 1998. He was named a Top Doctor in the New York metro area by Castle Connolly (2002-2008, 2010-2014). Charitably, he supports the Wounded Warrior Project, Inc, The USO and the Salvation Army.

His previous practice, that he was part owner of, Infectious Disease Specialists of New Jersey (IDS of NJ), was a medical practice that provided infectious disease diagnosis and treatment. General infectious disease management was provided by the practice, but there was a concentrated area of interest and dedication to HIV/AIDS. Dr. Roland was Acting Medical Director of HIV services for the Early Intervention Program Clinic of Trinitas Medical Center (previously Elizabeth General Medical Center) for over 20 years. During his time with IDS of NJ he was involved in over 40 clinical research trials as either principle investigator or sub-investigator.
