ITHACA, NY, March 05, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Robert R. Karpman, MD, MBA, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Karpman celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Founder and CEO of Geri-Safe, a start-up company that Dr. Karpman established in 2014, is well on its way with its very first product, the Medi-Trust , an automated pill dispenser that securely delivers medications exactly when people need them, according to doctors' instructions. The dispenser can be programed to release the right pills at the right time, multiple times a day, and will send text or email alerts when medications are dispensed or if your loved one misses a dose.

As an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Karpman was always interested in managing older people. Evident that there were a lot of injuries and issues that unfortunately forced people to move out of their homes and into residential care or nursing homes, he wanted to help avoid some of these unnecessary moves and help them maintain their own independence. The Medi-Trust is his first product that does just that and is the very reason he founded Geri-Safe.

Practicing medicine for 25 years in Arizona and board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, Dr. Karpman most recently served as the chief medical officer at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. A graduate of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in 1977, who completed his residency training at the University of Arizona, he first received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, at LaSalle College in 1973. Later returning to school to earn a Master of Business Administration at the University of Phoenix because he desired to have the necessary business background to serve in such roles as chairman of the department of orthopedic surgery for Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix and chairman of the department of surgery at Boswell Memorial Hospital, he graduated in 1992. In addition to working and chairing at several hospitals during his career, Dr. Karpman also spent six years in private practice.

In addition to his many years in medicine, Dr. Karpman taught as an associate professor in the department of orthopedic surgery at the Mayo Medical School, as a clinical professor of surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and as an adjunct professor at Arizona State University. He is currently affiliated with Cornell University, serving as an adjunct professor since 2011, entrepreneur-in-residence for biotechnology and health care since 2015, director of the business minor for life sciences since 2015, and professor of practice in the Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management since 2017.

Contributing nearly 50 articles to peer-reviewed journals during his years in medicine, Dr. Karpman also served as the editor of a book "Musculoskeletal Disorders in Aging". A longtime member of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, member and former president of the Arizona Geriatric Society, president of the Academic Orthopedic Society, and elected fellow of the American Orthopedic Association, he was awarded with a Professor of Practice by Cornell University in 2017. He has also been featured in numerous editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who in Science and Engineering. Married to his wife Laurel Ann Brody for 31 years and now Jari Poulin since 2010, Dr. Karpman has three children and four grandchildren.
