Roberto Echandi Celebrates More Than 20 Years of Practiced Industry Experience

Amb. Echandi won the Mariano Montealegre Bustamante Excellence Award as Ambassador of Costa Rica from 2006 to 2010

    ALEXANDRIA, VA, December 12, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Roberto Echandi has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 20 years of professional excellence in his field, Amb. Echandi has been the global lead for investment policy and promotion for the World Bank Group since 2012. He also serves on the faculty for the Summer Academy at the World Trade Institute of the University of Bern, and on the faculty of the Masters for International Economic Law & Policy of the University of Barcelona. Earlier in his career, he served as part of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Appellate Body Secretariat. Further, he was with the Ministry of Foreign Trade in San Jose, Costa Rica, as a senior special advisor, director general for international trade, and special adjunct ambassador for U.S. trade affairs. Additionally, he served as chief negotiator with the Costa Rican government for many international trade and investment negotiations, including the Association Agreement between the European Union and Central America, as well as an ambassador to the European Union, the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Amb. Echandi began his career with a Law Degree of the University of Costa Rica, followed by a Master of Laws and doctoral studies from the University of Michigan Law School at Ann Arbor, and a Master of Philosophy in Latin American Studies from the University of Oxford. He is affiliated with the the editorial boards of the Journal of World Investment and Trade and the Journal of International Economic Law.

Amb. Echandi has written numerous articles throughout his career, including "What Do Developing Countries Expect from the International Investment Regime?" and "The New Generation of International Investment Agreements: Recent Developments in the Asia-Pacific Region." His contributions have earned him recognition as well, in addition to being a Fulbright Scholar, and visiting Professor at Georgetown University, he won the Mariano Montealegre Bustamante Excellence Award for being among the top three best Ambassadors from 2006 to 2010, conferred by the President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica. In the coming years, he intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career.
