Rock'n'Roll Romantic: The Album Lives!

DownTown Mystic Revives The Album As An Art Form.

"Every artist wants to make a statement, and thanks to all of these great musicians, I've finally made mine."

NEW YORK, NY, July 18, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ Sha-La Music, Inc. announces the release of Rock'n'Roll Romantic, the new album from Roots Rocker DownTown Mystic. Rock'n'Roll Romantic will be released on July 22 and digitally distributed via Sony Music's The Orchard. Rock'n'Roll Romantic is now available for download to Radio prior to the official release date via AirPlay Direct, where the previous release, DownTown Nashville reached #1 on the APD Rock Albums & Singles Charts.

Rock'n'Roll Romantic is DownTown Mystic's 1st full length album since the self-titled DownTown Mystic in 2013. It contains 12 tracks that feature the talents of 14 musicians, including the RnR Hall of Fame rhythm section of The E Street Band--Max Weinberg & Garry W. Tallent. Other notables like Steve Holley & Paul Page from Ian Hunter's Rant Band and PJ Farley & Steve Brown of Trixter lend a hand, as well as members of NJ rockers The Discontent. A full length cd with 2 bonus tracks is planned for release in the fall. DownTown Mystic writer/producer Robert Allen comments, "Every artist wants to make a statement, and thanks to all of these great musicians, I've finally made mine."

Motivated by all the Internet chatter about the Album as an art form being dead, DownTown Mystic has carefully constructed a concept album based on rock'n'roll romance. Robert says, "Rock'n'Roll Romance is usually more about lust than love, but the people involved here are more intense...they're looking for something more." The songs reflect the drama and passion involved in the relationships, but there are no happy endings. Robert adds, "The songs were lived by my collaborators and I tried to channel the emotions that they put into their lyrics." But in true DownTown Mystic fashion, the album ends on a positive note with the guitar muscle of Think it Over, a song about looking ahead to change.

Like every classic rock album, the cover artwork is a key element. The cover for Rock'n'Roll Romantic is a collage by Brooklyn based award winning Graphic Design Artist Dan Romer that has a retro and futuristic look to it that fits DownTown Mystic's own description of the music perfectly--vintage yet modern. The album is divided into Side1 and Side2 like a vinyl record. Robert observes, "It's a bit of a challenge trying to make a classic RnR album in the digital age. The track listing is absolutely essential and has to work in all formats. Where you can physically divide an album into 2 sides on a vinyl recording, you can't on a cd or digital download, so the songs still have to work in order."

The song that ends Side1 is not about a relationship but the one man who is the personification of a Rock'n'Roll Romantic--Brian Jones, who formed and named The Rolling Stones. His short life was an excess of "sex, drugs & rock'n'roll" but he was ultimately undone by the loss of his one true love and his band. Special guest Jerry Fierro contributes stellar harmonica work that represents Brian's spirit in the song. Robert chose to include Brian on the album because "he truly was an icon of the 60s and the 1st person who fused fashion with music that deserved to be remembered as the epitome of a RnR Romantic."

2016 has already been a busy year for DownTown Mystic with the exclusive release on YouTube of the video single She Said, She Said, a tribute to the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles classic Revolver album (also included on Rock'n'Roll Romantic). This spring 2 releases simultaneously at Radio in Europe and the US have also garnered more exposure. The single Way To Know from the DownTown Mystic on E Street EP reached #1 and stayed there for 3 weeks on the Official European Independent Music Chart. In the US the DownTown Nashville EP debuted in the Top 5 Most Added on the AMA Chart and went on to be DownTown Mystic's most successful release at Americana Radio to date.

With 3 releases that included the successful DownTown Mystic On E Street EP featuring the aforementioned E Streeters, 2015 saw DownTown Mystic reach 2 milestones; having music placed on over 100 TV shows and getting songs placed in 2 movies--Far Too Far and the award winning Cam Zink: Reach For The Sky. Now it's all about Rock'n'Roll Romantic. Robert confesses, "I've always been a RnR romantic when it comes to the music. Recording this album has been a lifelong dream and it's very cool that I get to share that reality now."
