/24-7PressRelease/ -- Rodney Mesriani, president and CEO of the LA-based top law firm, Mesriani Law Group, has attended Senator Barbara Boxer's Victory Fund Luncheon, with no less than President Barack Obama as guest of honor yesterday, October 22, at the Tutor Campus Center of the University of Southern California (USC).
The event - which was attended by hundreds of other guests that included high-ranking federal and state officials like former Governor Gary Davis, people from the academe, legal luminaries and lawyers like Scott Corwin and Garo Mardorissian, businessmen and Democrat supporters - is part of a series of fund-raising campaigns by supporters to help boost the re-election bid of Senator Barbara Boxer.
Ms. Boxer, who was first elected in 1992 and is known as one of the Senate's most vocal liberals, faces a tough road to re-election this year with three other political contenders.
President Obama and Senator Boxer delivered speeches while guests and attendees were treated to dinner. Pop singer and superstar, Stevie Wonder, also performed during the occasion.
After their speeches, Rodney Mesriani had a chance to speak to President Obama and Senator Boxer.
Rodney Mesriani also spoke to Obama about politics and the economy. "I spoke about our support for him and how we can be more effective with the economy and against special interest groups and enhancing our power through election campaigns coming up".
Aside from being lawyers, both Rodney Mesriani and President Obama share an affinity in taking up cases for poor litigants. While still a junior lawyer in a Chicago law firm, President Obama represented clients in civil rights, employment, and wrongful termination cases. Rodney Mesriani took the same path, taking up several employment cases involving discrimination based on race and gender for countless ordinary workers.
Rodney Mesriani has performed pro bono services over the years and has even received a letter of appreciation from UN for his dedicated service and outstanding contribution to the development of the UN (NGO) International Association Educators World Peace, World Peace Marshal Arts Ambassador Association, and UN News. He has also received a Certificate of Honor for his services and his name has been inscribed in The Golden Book of Jewish Unity.
