RALEIGH, NC, December 17, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Roger Earnhardt of Raleigh, in recognition of his significant and lasting contributions to the housing industry in North Carolina, was inducted into the North Carolina Housing Hall of Fame at the North Carolina Home Builders Association (NCHBA) Officers Installation Ceremony held on December 2 in Asheville at the Grove Park Inn.

Roger has served in many housing-related capacities throughout the years, but it most notably recognized for his long time dedication to the mortgage and home building industries. Specifically, Roger is credited for leading the fight for the 30-year fixed rate mortgage in the 1960s. In addition, he has also been instrumental over the years in advocating for mortgages and loans for builders and consumers for construction and land development.

Today, Roger is serving his 11th year on the CAHEC (Community Affordable Housing Equity Corporation) Board of Directors, including serving as Chair of the Board from 2004-2006. CAHEC, one of the largest nonprofit regional tax credit syndicators, helps develop and foster healthy neighborhoods by raising equity capital and investing in affordable rental housing and community revitalization. CAHEC also invests in the people living in the properties it helps finance through its innovative Community Investments opportunities. Since the company's founding, CAHEC has raised and committed more than $1.55 billion toward the development of more than 22,000 units of affordable housing.

Included on the plaque Earnhardt received at the induction ceremony is the following message: "Fifty years ago you had a vision to help North Carolinians achieve their dream of affordable home ownership. You led the charge for the 30-year fixed rate mortgage and worked with the banking and mortgage industries to help create the secondary mortgage market system -- both of which are bedrocks of today's real estate industry. Though few may know of your efforts, thousands of families and homeowners have benefited from your visionary leadership. Thank you for your leadership and service!"

The Housing Hall of Fame's Board of Governors selected Roger from an outstanding pool of candidates nominated this year. The primary purpose of the NCHHF is to honor men and women who have made significant and lasting contributions to housing in North Carolina, the building industry, and to the North Carolina Home Builders Association. Earnhardt, along with one other 2014 inductee, joins only 29 previous inductees to the N.C. Housing Hall of Fame.
