-- It's a great time for actor, Geoffrey Owens, who shares the stage with Orlando Bloom from Pirates of the Caribbean and Tony Nominated, Condola Rashad, in Broadway's new production of Romeo and Juliet. The Cosby Show star also hosts a new inspirational web show called The Witness to Miracles and Angels. This season's special guest is New York Times Best Selling Author Cecil Murphey.
Produced by RisingStar31 Productions, The Witness to Miracles and Angels features authors who've documented true stories of life-changing miracles. Producer, Pamela Sherrod, created the mini-documentary series to offer inspiring stories to people who're searching for answers about eternal life, the near death experience and other miraculous occurrences.
Sherrod wanted to bring talented partners, as well as guests, to the show. So, when it came to seeking a host and their technical crews, she sought out some of the best in the industry. "Geoffrey Owens," she remarked, "is a gifted Shakespearean actor who brings a wealth of experience to our program."
She's also pleased to have on board an Emmy Award winning editor.
Their featured guest, Cecil Murphey, has written 135 books, ranging from ghostwritten autobiographies and collaborations with celebrities to biblical stories of miracle healings. Murphey has conducted extensive research and chronicled many historical accounts of near and after death experiences, and is most famous for the book on which he collaborated with Don Piper, 90 Minutes in Heaven. Over 5 million copies of the book were sold and it's currently being adapted into a film. One of Murphey's other successful books, Gifted Hands, The Ben Carson Story, documented the life of the renowned neurosurgeon who successfully separated conjoined twins, and was also adapted into film.
Sherrod says that their production company is equally committed to showcasing the work of undiscovered writers, and they're launching a new web show called The Rising Stars, for this purpose. The mini-documentaries will revolve around the lives of new authors, focusing on their trials and aspirations as they develop their books.
Their third new web show, which is planned for next summer, will celebrate the lives of people who've overcome adversity to become successful. With this program, they hope to inspire young people to stay in school and strive for higher goals, a mission that Sherrod began with her writing partner, the late Mrs. Sammy Davis, Jr.
Sherrod began offering ghostwriting assistance after she wrote The Last Chapter in the Life of Mrs. Sammy Davis, Jr., and has a passion for helping people tell their stories. "You don't have to be a celebrity to have an important message," she says. "You never know who's carrying the next Wuthering Heights in their hearts."
