/24-7PressRelease/ - SANTA FE, NM, April 26, 2008 - "Happy Trails to you until we meet again." Theme Song -- The Roy Rogers Show

I was one of those kids who couldn' t get enough of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. In fact, when I got a set of Dale Evans cut-outs complete with all her fringed garb, I played with them until the cardboard fell apart in my hands.

Talk about loyalty and a walk down memory lane. The way it looked to me at age 10, a home with Roy, Dale, Trigger (their horse), and Bullet (the wonder dog) was exactly what every kid needed.

Living at the Double R Bar Ranch outside of Mineral City had to be paradise. And don' t forget their sidekick Pat Brady and Nellybelle, the jeep, were always close by.

The cast was so believable they made kids like me forget it was just TV. Maybe that was the program' s secret.

The Roy Rogers Show clearly pre-dated so called adult Westerns like "Gunsmoke" and "Wagon Train."

Rogers was so good at fighting bad guys he made it seem like all of the problems of the world could be solved in 26 minutes. Even adults liked this show.

"People are always asking me why they don't make westerns like they used to," Roy said in 1992. "I don't know the answer. The world changed. Hollywood changed. I think we've lost something, and we don't know how to get it back.."

Given Roy Rogers and Dale Evan's notoriety in Hollywood is it really any surprise that memorabilia related to them commands interest on the auction block?

On Jan 26-27, High Noon offered its 18th annual Western Americana Auction and Antique Show in Phoenix, Ariz. A number of Roy Roger items sold.

Roy' s fringed shirt, circa late-1940s, sold for $7,475.

Rosemary has provided auction coverage and analysis on thousands-and-thousands of antiques and collectibles sold since the column started 16-years ago. She includes auction sale results to give readers a feel for what their treasures are worth because the power of auctions is simple.

When the bidding stops and the hammer falls, the value of an item is set. The buyer, not the seller, sets the price, and this simple distinction cuts through all the chitchat about what art, antiques and collectibles are really worth. The emphasis is on today's values, not yesterday's wishful thinking.

Each week another new article is posted featuring a particular area of collecting.

Every article showcases an auction item and how it fits into the big picture.
A compelling, historical context is provided for the treasures people collect.
Collecting tips are offered.
Current prices realized are listed.
