BARNAUL, RUSSIA, January 27, 2010
/24-7PressRelease/ -- PAVA land-owning subsidiary, Russian Agricultural Division (www.radcorp.ru) intends to introduce new methods for growing sunflower seeds in 2010 season. Looking to accelerate production of high-margin crops - last year, cultivated acreage for buckwheat and sunflower increased 3 and 2.5 times respectively - the company targets higher efficiency of farming.
It is planned to purchase highly productive, cross-bred seed varieties for the continuous enhancement of the crop yields. Besides, RAD will switch to planting self-fertile grades of sunflower to optimize growing practices and reduce dependence on applying insecticide.
An additional cost-saving benefit is provided by the company's use of hang-gliders in protecting crops from diseases and pests, which enables larger coverage in a short period and lowers input consumption.
RAD starts purchasing seed material in February, and will consult regional scientific institutions on growing technology for self-compatible sunflower varieties.
Russian Agricultural Division currently controls over 150,000 ha of land, and creates the basis for integrated agroindustrial production chain.
