Safety Training for Vessel Crews featured at April WorkBoat Maintenance & Repair Conference and Expo in New Orleans

A PEC Basic Orientation Safety Awareness Course, MEDIC First Aid Basic Plus Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid Training Program and Rigger Safety Course will be held during the WorkBoat Maintenance & Repair Conference and Expo, April 12-14.



This new addition to the Expo gives mariners the opportunity to address training needs while experiencing all the Expo has to offer.

    NEW ORLEANS, LA, February 29, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Commercial vessel crews can attend a series of safety training courses during the 2016 WorkBoat Maintenance & Repair Conference and Expo, the only educational series dedicated solely to the needs of owners, port captains, fleet managers, engineers and mechanics responsible for commercial vessel maintenance.

PEC Basic Orientation Safety Awareness Course
Tuesday, April 12 | 8am - 4pm
8-hour course, bag lunch provided
Price: $170 per person
The PEC Basic Orientation safety awareness course includes both SafeGulf and SafeLandUSA. PEC Basic was designed to take the place of multiple operator orientations and to give each student a general idea of life and safety issues in the oil and gas industry -- upstream, downstream, onshore or offshore. This one-day program meets API RP 75 & API RP T-1 requirements and provides a basic understanding at an awareness level of certain general safety information that an employee should know before entering a company facility and while performing assigned work duties. This meets the requirements of over 25 leading oil and gas operators.

MEDIC First Aid BasicPlus Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid Training Program
Wednesday, April 13 | 8am - Noon
Price: $120 per person
MEDIC First Aid BasicPlus is a combined CPR, AED, and first aid training program designed specifically for the occupational first aid provider. This extremely flexible program will help employers meet OSHA and other federal and state regulatory requirements for training employees how to respond to medical emergencies at work.

MEDIC First Aid programs are accepted as equivalent to the AHA and ARC by many state regulatory authorities, Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard & others. MEDIC First Aid is consistent with OSHA's best practices for first aid training programs.

Rigger Safety Course - Current API RP 2D Requirements and Recommendations
Thursday, April 14 | 8am - Noon
Price: $150 per person
This course is designed to teach the student safe rigging practices and procedures used and defined by the current API RP 2D requirements and recommendations. The course consists of classroom discussion and hands-on demonstration. Upon completion the student will have an awareness level understanding of:
- Rigger responsibilities
- Standard slings and component parts
- Basic knowledge of wire rope
- Basic sling hitches
- Proper use of shackles, eye bolts, hooks, rope clips, turnbuckles and tag lines
- Sling angles and effect
- Load stability
- Inspection and care
- General rigging procedures and precautions
- Hand signals/ communication

Bayou Supply & Safety requires a minimum score of 80% on evaluation. Incorrect answers will be reviewed to ensure understanding before course completion.
