WESTON, FL, June 17, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Students at The Sagemont School spent the last portion of the school year creating a display that was...out of this world! The multi-purpose room of this private school in Weston Florida was transformed into a galactic showroom filled with colorful and innovative displays featuring every aspect about outer space.

Sagemont fifth graders synthesized all of the information that they had learned about planets and their properties by creating their own innovative planetary replica. The students created visual displays that detailed the land forms from topography to points of interest. Each student made a tri-fold brochure using Microsoft Publisher software that explained all of the important details about their planet. In addition, each student wrote their own "constitution" that was signed with a goose quill pen and received an official wax seal. Second grade student Keshav Narendra-Babu said, "I liked seeing the older kids' projects, especially my big sister's because she wrote a research paper and made a Solar System power point presentation."

The fourth grade "Space Exploration Timeline" traveled the whole length of the back wall. The timeline included detailed models and dioramas of important space travel discoveries and written historical entries.

Third graders showed off their knowledge of the process of writing a research paper from note cards to typed final product. Their research topic was constellations. The 1st graders displayed interpretive clay models of planets and the 2nd grade presented papier mache solar systems. Halle Troadec, a 1st grade student said, "I liked creating my planet because I like art and I like getting my hands dirty."

Sagemont kindergarteners explored the topic of "How to take care of the Earth." They created their own original bound books. The pre-school classes got very creative with their space exploration project. The youngest students displayed rocket replicas made of recycled paper goods. Each rocket included a photo of its owner wearing a real space travel suit.

The 3rd grade Spanish class built their own "Habitat Lunar," or space habitat. This project was large enough for a student to sit in. A detailed set of directions was presented on a large board. The instructions to build the habitat were completely in Spanish...of course!
Parents and children alike had the opportunity to enjoy these projects on display. Everyone had fun learning about space...our final frontier.
