Saginaw State Farm Agent Donates Supplies to Firefighters

    FORT WORTH, TX, April 28, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- State Farm Agent Linda Allen takes her company's motto to heart. Like a good neighbor, Allen and her team collected and delivered donated supplies to weary firefighters in nearby Palo Pinto County.

"There were numerous wildfires burning just west of my office," Allen said. "Many homes have been lost and property damaged. Firefighters were in desperate need of supplies."

Allen and her team delivered over 1,200 bottles of water to the City of Hudson Oaks Volunteer Fire Department Thursday.

The wildfire began Wednesday, April 13, near Possum Kingdom Lake in Stephens County, 70 miles west of Fort Worth. A statewide drought, hot temperatures and high winds allowed other wildfires to ignite and spread quickly.

The conflagration destroyed nearly 300 homes and outbuildings and required nearly 800 personnel from local fire departments, state and federal agencies, and Texas Army National Guard to pitch in to battle the blaze.

"The firefighters thanked us for the water and thanked everyone who dropped off supplies at our State Farm office in Saginaw," said Allen.
