/24-7PressRelease/ - BOSTON, MA, July 04, 2008 - With the summer in full swing in New England, the idea of sailing is high on many people's lists of things to do outdoors.

That's why the Boston Sailing Center (www.bostonsailingcenter.com) will give novice sailors a feel for what it's like to take the helm, and introduce them to the school's beginner course for adults during a special open house featuring free sailing trips on Boston Harbor.

The event will be held on Saturday, July 19 from 1pm to 5pm at the Center's sailing docks on Lewis Wharf in downtown Boston.

First-time sailors and those with limited sailing experience are invited to give it a try. Complimentary 'round-the-harbor sailboat trips will be supervised by experienced skippers aboard boats ranging in length from 23 to 40 feet. Free refreshments will also be served.

The Center's teaching staff will be on hand to answer questions about sailing basics, and about the five-week, weekend and "vacation week" formats of the school's 26-hour introductory course. Those who sign up during the event will receive a $100 discount off the regular course fee ($795). Discounts on advanced courses and one-year sailing memberships will also be available.

Now in its 32nd season, the Boston Sailing Center is headquartered in a converted Louisiana riverboat that is permanently docked at Lewis Wharf. The Center's classrooms and boat moorings are a five-minute walk north of Faneuil Hall Marketplace along Atlantic Avenue. Public parking is available nearby.

For more information about the event, contact the Center at (617) 227-4198 or visit the Center's web site at www.bostonsailingcenter.com.
