LOUISVILLE, KY, May 30, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Feast Day for Saint Joan of Arc is May 30th which is the anniversary of her death when she was burned for heresy in Rouen, France, on May 30, 1431. In order to celebrate Saint Joan's Feast Day and provide more details about the remarkable way that she lived and died, MaidOfHeaven.com has set up a special page with two historic paintings depicting her death as well as several eyewitness accounts of her moving death.

Why is Saint Joan of Arc still remembered six hundred years later? Joan's life was one of both great triumph as well as great tragedy. She was given command of the French armies at only seventeen years of age, the youngest in history to command the armies of a nation, and she was able to completely reverse a war that had been going on for almost a hundred years that the French were about to lose. In spite of saving her country, Joan was ultimately captured by her enemies and burned as a heretic because of their great fear of her as a military leader. The story of Joan's life has inspired people down through the ages with her example of self sacrifice and bravery. Sir Winston Churchill, the legendary WWII leader of Great Britain, once wrote of her that: "Joan was a being so uplifted from the ordinary run of mankind that she finds no equal in a thousand years." Mark Twain, the renowned American writer of the nineteenth century, described her as "perhaps the only entirely unselfish person whose name has a place in profane history."
