DiFranco has been helping the community for over 10 years and annually donates 200 book bags to the Apex Chamber in their Book Bag Bonanza, an event that supplies Apex's students of need with school supplies stuffed in book bags. As empathized by most businesses today, the economy prevented DiFranco from participating this year. Instead of declining the opportunity he consulted his numerous connections in the Triangle area, found others to participate and ensured that the event would still be a success.
The Hero Award was nominated by the Education Committee of the Apex Chamber. Brenda Steen, the Executive Director of the Apex Chamber, said that DiFranco's character "exemplifies the type of behavior that keeps Apex close-knit."
DiFranco has been involved in real estate for more than 30 years in construction, sales and leasing, including office, flex, industrial and retail space. He has assisted companies with growth and expansion strategies, exit strategies, creative financing, vendor recommendations and facilities management.
DiFranco is also a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). According to the CCIM institute only 6 percent of the estimated 150,000 commercial real estate practitioners nationwide hold the CCIM designation.
