/Cambridge Who's Who/ -- Samara Gabree, Nurse Practitioner at Whitney M. Young, Jr. Health Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of healthcare.
With 10 years of industry experience, Samara Gabree, NP specializes in the provision of HIV/AIDS primary medical care and adherence counseling services. In her position with Whitney M. Young, Jr. Health Center, she is responsible for providing all aspects of primary medical care services for patients suffering from a large range of acute and chronic medical conditions including those living with HIV. As a member of the steering committee she assisted with the implementation of electronic medical record at the health center. She is now looking forward to a new opportunity of providing Substance Abuse treatment at the Whitney Young Methadone Maintenance Program in the near future while continuing her HIV practice. Prior to attaining her current position, Ms. Gabree was employed as an AIDS Certified Registered Nurse (ACRN) at Albany Medical Center on the Infectious Disease and the NYS DOC secure units. While in graduate school, she was a member of the HIV Team at the Eddy Visiting Nurse Association and worked as visiting home care nurse and clinical case manager for patients living with HIV/AIDS.
Passion for assisting others is the driving force behind Ms. Gabree's success. She holds a bachelor of science in nursing from Russell Sage College and a bachelor of arts in psychology from Syracuse University. She then obtained her masters of science in nursing from Sage Graduate School. She is an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified (ANP-BC) by American Nurse Credentialing Center and an American Academy of HIV Medicine Specialist (AAHIVS). She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, and the Nurse Practitioner Association New York State.
An active educator in the field of nursing, Ms. Gabree served as an adjunct professor and clinical instructor for the RN program at Maria College and the licensed practical nurse program at Capital District BOCES. She is extremely active with the local HIV community, where she works with fellow HIV/AIDS nurses in an effort to improve HIV-related education opportunities for local healthcare workers. Ms. Gabree is currently the president of the NYS Capital District Chapter of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) that provides four annual dinner lectures on HIV related topics. She has served on the ANAC board of directors for over eight years. She speaks for the Gilead HIV Sciences Community Speakers Bureau to provide HIV education to patient groups, case managers and community based organizations.
