/24-7PressRelease.com/ -- The San Diego chapter of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC) is having a free Collector’s Evaluation Night Saturday, October 9, at 7:30 pm, at the Scottish Rite Center in Mission Valley. This special event is open to the public, and free of charge. Just bring your hand-carryable timepiece, and the club will have people on hand to tell you about it. This is a great opportunity to get information about that old clock or watch from the very people who have made a life hobby out of collecting them.
The verbal evaluations will not include appraisals or valuation, although club members have access to a large library of identification and price guides.
“There are a lot of old timepieces tucked away in drawers or on shelves, and each one has a story,” says Earl Starr, president of NAWCC Chapter 59 San Diego. “The information we provide can help fill in the gaps in that story – did Grandpa really work on a railroad? Did great-grandma really bring this clock over from her native country? These are the family stories that we can help unravel.”
The NAWCC is a non-profit organization made up of clock and watch collecting chapters worldwide. The NAWCC website is http://www.nawcc.org. NAWCC Chapter 59 is the San Diego chapter, and meets on the second Saturday of every month at 7:30 pm, at the Scottish Rite Center on Camino Del Rio South, directly across the I-8 from Mission Valley Center shopping mall. Parking is free, admission is free, and guests are welcome. For more information, call (858) 748-2242, or visit the San Diego chapter website at http://www.nawcc59.org.
