San Diego Earth Week.Com Rolls Out New Jobs, Policy And "Earth Bash" Events During Earth Week 2009

San Diego Earth Week.Com Green Advocates have created three new events taking place during Earth Week 2009. In addition to a green jobs and career event, Mayor Jerry Sanders will speak at the Leadership Forum. An Earth Bash is a "must" Green event.



    SAN DIEGO, CA, April 08, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sustainability champions and social entrepreneurs Dawn Parker-Waites of sandiegolovesgreen.com and Kathleen Connell leader of The Connell Whittaker Group LLC, have partnered to offer a new suite of dynamic Earth Week events in April 2009.

Tickets are now available at www.sandiegoearthweek.com for events that take place during the week of April 17-25, 2009.

New Events include:
- A Green Jobs and Career Workshop a timely event for those looking for information on Green jobs, business and training opportunities in the San Diego Region;

- A public policy forum, America's Finest Green City Leadership Forum, featuring speakers and elected officials from the federal, state, regional and local level; Mayor Jerry Sanders, Council Member Donna Frye, senior staff from the offices of: Senators Barbara Boxer, Christine Kehoe, Congresswoman Susan Davis and others.

- A capstone celebration of Mother Earth, dubbed the Earth Bash, a floating party on San Diego Bay aboard Hornblower's eco-friendly luxury yacht, Inspiration, complete with a stellar line up of live entertainers, dancing, nature appreciation, and much more.

- A percent of net proceeds will be donated to Surfrider San Diego, San Diego Coastkeeper, and Stayclassy.org.

"Our Earth deserves an entire week of focus in this era of climate change, so we designed special events that would appeal to different interests and in which all San Diegans could get engaged," said SanDiegoEarthWeek.Com Executive Co-Producer Dawn Parker-Waites. "Through these events, we hope to raise awareness and increase involvement in the greening our region."

Co-Producer and a NASA policy veteran Kathleen Connell agrees: "In addition to offering great events, our vision is to ultimately see San Diego become America's Finest Green City. Thus, we have asked our leaders to talk with the community on Earth Day, April 22nd, about how we can all work together to get there," said Connell.
Corporate supporters include Cricket, a division of LEAP Wireless, which is headquartered in San Diego and offers affordable cell phone service and products. In addition, locally owned KPRI radio 102.1 has joined as the on-air media partner.

SanDiegoEarthWeek.Com has enormous support in the San Diego community for this effort other Strategic Partners include The Heartland Coalition, Volunteer San Diego, Kids For Peace and Excel Youth Zone.
Hornblower Cruises' super-yacht, the bio-diesel powered Inspiration will set sail for the April 25th Earth Bash. The City of San Diego Environmental Services Department has made a venue available for the Green Jobs and Career event on April 21st at the Environmental Services Ridgehaven Building. The posh downtown Hotel Solamar has provided the Solstice Ballroom for the Leadership Forum on Earth Day, April 22. Many small businesses are also participating by helping to fund the events and give their business brand name exposure and visibility in our region.
