San Francisco Dentist, Ben Amini DDS, is Bringing Dental Cone Beam Computed Tomography to CitiDent

Dr. Ben Amini is now bringing Cone Beam Computer Tomography technology to CitiDent.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, October 09, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- San Francisco dentist, Dr. Ben Amini, is bringing dental cone beam computed tomography to his dental office, CitiDent. Dental cone beam CT uses a special form of X-ray equipment for when routine X-rays and facial X-rays are not satisfactory to see specific issues. During the cone beam CT, an X-ray in the shape of a cone is moved around the patient's head to produce high-quality images of the teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways, airway, and bone all in one shot.
The dental cone beam CT can easily provide detailed images of the facial bones. Thus, it is usually used to evaluate diseases lying in the jawbones, dentition, bone structure of the face, nasal cavity and sinuses. The CT will rotate around the head at different angles for the full 360-degrees to produce multiple images into one single 3D image. Dental cone beam CT is specially used for surgical planning of impacted teeth extraction, diagnosing TMJ disorder, planning for the placement of dental implants, locating a certain area of pain, reconstructive surgery and detecting jaw tumors.

With clearer images of deeper structures and tissues in the facial cavity, dentists at CitiDent can better identify problems or areas of concern, as well as provide more diverse treatment options.

"This is an exciting time for dentistry where traditional two dimensional imaging is being challenged by a much more realistic three dimensional image of the dentition along with the supporting structure of bone and tissue in the head and neck area. We can plan our dental implant placement in a 3D format, or be able to determine endodontic problems like never before. We can see the periodontal pathology, jaw bone disease, in 3D, so we can offer better treatment options. This is a game changer and will soon be the new standard in dental care", says Dr. Ben Amini, a San Francisco dental implants dentist and the founder of CitiDent.
