Working in public health as a scientific officer for the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) in Cheongju-Si since 2010, Dr. Kim currently works to follow in the organization's mission to protect and promote public health through safety control of food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, herbal medicines, and medical devices. His background, which includes a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Chungnam National University, a Master of Science and PhD, both in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, from Yonsei University, combined with the experience he has gained over the past 12 years in the field, has only benefited his ability to meet the mission and goals of the MFDS. Honored to be a part of an organization that cares about the making a difference, three years into his career, in 2013, they recognized him with an Excellence Award for his services. In 2016, the Minister of Food and Drug Safety presented him with the Medical Device Government Award.
Formerly, Dr. Kim worked as a circuit design researcher with LG Display and later as an IP design engineer for Dongbu Hitek Semiconductor before being taken on board at MFDS. He belongs to the membership committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the Society for Vascular Ultrasound, the Korea Society of Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Regulatory Sciences, the Ergonomics Society of Korea, the Korean Society of Medical and Biological Engineering, and several others, Dr. Kim holds several patents in his field and was recently included in the 33rd edition of Who's Who in the World.
Committed to Kyong-mi Song, Dr. Kim and she share one child. When he isn't busy working or tending to his family, he enjoys spending time running, bicycling, and listening to music after a long day.
