Sandra Autry Ignatonis Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Education

Known for her compassion, patience and true love of teaching, Ms. Ignatonis dedicated four decades of her life and career to her students



    ATLANTA, GA, January 12, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sandra Ignatonis has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A retired teacher, Ms. Ignatonis dedicated four decades of her life and career to her students. Known for her compassion, patience and true love of teaching, she came to prominence in her career as a teacher for the Jefferson County Board of Education in Birmingham, AL, in 1964. As her career progressed, she took on teaching opportunities with the Huntsville, AL, Board of Education, the Epiphany Catholic School in Miami, FL, the Cobb County Board of Education in Marietta, GA, the Bartow County Board of Education in Cartersville, GA. Involved in many aspects of education outside of the classroom, Ms. Ignatonis is commended for her former work as a member of the school self-governance committee in Emerson, GA. In addition, she spent many years as a judge for various social science fair competitions in Huntsville. In recognition of her professional excellence in her career, Ms. Ignatonis received a Samford University faculty grant and she was selected for inclusion into Who's Who in America, Who's' Who in American Education, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.

Ms. Ignatonis knew that she wanted to be a teacher since she was young. To prepare for her career, she attended Samford University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1964. After becoming a certified teacher in the state of Georgia, she achieved the additional credentials necessary to teach gifted education. To remain at the top of the field of education, Ms. Ignatonis remained active in industry organizations including the Georgia Supporters of Gifted Students and the Professional Association of Georgia Educators. Looking to the future, Ms. Ignatonis intends to continue enjoying her retirement while participating in local events in her community through the Forsyth County Women's Club (FCWC).
