PETALUMA, CA, October 2, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sandra Winters Brosius, Teacher at Valley Oaks School of Independent Study, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of education.
Ms. Brosius has more than 42 years of experience in education. At her current post, she is responsible for teaching subjects using the independent studies model; reading and writing, language arts and mathematics to seventh through 12th grade students, English, mathematics, history and science to seventh through eighth grade students and English and electives (study skills, culinary arts, power reading, psychology, etc.) to ninth through 12th grade students. Additionally, she provides individualized attention to special needs children and to those students who require assistance with their academics. The most gratifying aspect of her career is her ability to provide her students with a renewed sense of self-confidence and love of learning. Ms. Brosius received several grants for her excellence in reading, history and science education. Additionally, she was awarded funding for designing an educational program using visual aids for a portable science laboratory.
Ms. Brosius earned her Master of Arts in Education and Reading from California State University Fullerton in 1980 and her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Arizona State University in 1967. She is a member of the Petaluma Federation of Teachers, the American Federation of Teachers, the California Reading Association and the International Reading Association. She stays current with the trends in her profession by reviewing Reading & Writing Quarterly, studying current educational practices, and attending conferences.
