FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA, May 18, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Sarada Mylavarapu, chief of staff at the Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in health care and quality Improvement.

Dr. Mylavarapu was elected as chief of staff for a two-year term at the Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center starting January 1, 2012. She is the first female to be elected Chief of Staff in 40 years at FVRH.

Dr. Mylavarapu has been practicing cardiac anesthesiology for the past 24 years at FVRH&MC and has been the President & Medical Director of FVAMA Inc for the past 9 years. She served as a governing board member of Fountain Valley Regional Hospital for several years and as an alternate delegate for the Orange County Medical Association. Dr. Mylavarapu is also a member of many committees and organizations, including the American College of Physician Executives, the California Medical Association, the Orange County Medical Association, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, and the California State Society of Anesthesiologists. Every morning, Dr. Mylavarapu focuses on providing high quality patient care while she is in the operating room. She manages the operating room schedule and ensures that the needs of the hospital and its medical staff are met. She meets with the hospital CEO on a regular basis to resolve any issues that may arise. She is currently working with Midwestern Osteopathic Medical students as their Director of medical education.

Dr. Mylavarapu's interests stretch far and wide beyond her primary role as a cardiac anesthesiologist. She is a diplomat of the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians and served as Quality Chairwoman for several years at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center. It is her dedication to maintaining quality that has driven her success in the medical field. In keeping with her commitment to ensure the highest level of quality possible to patients in our hospitals, she serves her community as a member of The Institute for Medical Quality by conducting accreditation surveys of hospitals in California in conjunction with The Joint Commission and The California Department of Public Heath. In addition to focusing on quality, Dr. Mylavarapu is able to approach her work with a unique perspective and a systematic method that encourages a positive change.

Dr. Mylavarapu is a Certified Physicians Executive and holds a Master's Degree in Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Furthermore, she recently received certification in Financial Accounting for Non-Financial Managers from Villanova University.

With changes in healthcare on the horizon, Dr. Mylavarapu is determined to make a difference by becoming more involved in the delivery of health care, in health care reform, and in the ways it will affect the community. She believes change is inevitable but it should not compromise the care of the individual patient. As she continues to progress through the medical field, Dr. Mylavarapu hopes to assume a leadership role in a well-coordinated, integrated delivery system to improve patient care.
Dr. Sarada Mylavarapu was born in India, is married, and has two children. When she isn't off trying to make a difference in the world, you can find her painting, cooking or playing a round of golf.
