At the start of her career, she served as an instructor of sociology for Memphis State University before joining Louisiana State University as a visiting assistant professor of anthropology. After her term at Louisiana State, Dr. Brabant joined the University of Southwestern Louisiana and has worked there ever since, occupying the roles of assistant professor, associate professor, and professor at the esteemed academic institution.

A graduate of Memphis State University and the University of Georgia, Dr. Brabant holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, and a PhD. Her professional affiliations include the American Association of University Professors, the Association of Death Education and Counseling, and the Association for Applied and Clinical Sociology. Throughout her career, she has contributed her extensive knowledge to a number of creative works, including "Mending the Torn Fabric: For Those Who Grieve and Those Who Want to Help Them." Beyond the personal gratification of her achievements, she has earned a variety of awards for her work in the field. She recently was honored by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a named award, The Sarah Brabant Trail Blazer Award. Dr. Brabant has also had the honor of being featured in many volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
