/24-7PressRelease/ -- JP Turner, an independent brokerage firm headquartered in Atlanta, announced that Scott Holcomb, general counsel for the firm, was selected as a Manfred Wörner Fellow for 2009. Holcomb was one of only 15 Americans and 15 Germans selected to attend the Manfred Wörner Seminar held in Germany and Belgium from May 1-10, 2009. The event was co-sponsored by the German Marshall Fund of the United States and the Armed Forces Office of the German Defense Ministry.
The annual Manfred Wörner Seminar brings together 30 young Americans and Germans to examine German and European security policy and to discuss U.S.-German and U.S.- European security interests. The seminar serves to deepen the understanding between participants from both countries, and offers an excellent opportunity to broaden professional networks.
While Holcomb has been practicing securities law for the last five years, he began his legal career in 1998 as a Captain in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps and maintains an active interest in defense policy. During his military career, he deployed three times to support operations in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq, and he worked on many of the high-profile legal issues related to these conflicts.

The 10-day program spanned four cities - Bonn, Cologne and Berlin, Germany, and Brussels, Belgium, and consisted of meetings with experts on security and defense.
