/24-7PressRelease/ -- Cadet Eli Ammons, a member of the Columbus Ironclad Division of the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps, in Columbus, Georgia, successfully completed the two week Naval Sea Cadet Corps Recruit Training at Naval Air Station, Whiting Field, Florida. Ammons is the son of Donna and Aric Adams of Millbrook, AL and a student at Stanhope Elmore High School. He and his fellow cadets graduated in a ceremony on Saturday, August 9, 2008.
During the highly intensive training, cadets received an orientation to military life, military heritage, military customs and courtesies, and the Navy's Core values. Other instruction included watch standing, military drill and ceremony, marksmanship and weapons safety. Physical training, fire fighting, damage control, ethics, and general military knowledge were also key components of Ammons' experience.
Cadets were challenged to know and recall Navy and Marine Corps knowledge including the 11 General Orders of the Sentry, officer and enlisted ranks and rates, the phonetic alphabet and the Sailor's Creed. Ammons' excellent performance at training was recognized by his Division Officer and Commanding Officer during the training.
"The Florida Recruit Training is an intense and demanding training. Cadet Ammons did an outstanding job at training. He graduated training with a better understanding of what military life might be like and a firm understanding of what it means to work as a team," said Warrant Officer Winslett, NSCC, Commanding Officer of the Columbus Ironclad Division. "All of the cadets performed at a very high level and are fine representatives of their families and their community."
