Seasons Hospice Foundation and Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care Open New Inpatient Care Center

New center answers need for an inpatient hospice center in Boston area

BOSTON, MA, June 24, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Seasons Hospice Foundation and Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care will be celebrating the opening of its new 15-bed inpatient center at 597 Randolph Avenue in Milton. The new inpatient care center is designed to celebrate the traditional New England style architecture while creating a warm and caring home-like environment for the hospice patients and their families.

Hospice care is typically provided in the comfort of the patient's home. On occasion, when pain or symptoms cannot be adequately managed in the home setting, the patient may benefit from a short-term stay at the Seasons Hospice Inpatient Center where the focus is on the patient and family and their individual needs. In a uniquely serene, comfortable, and medically supported environment, patients, surrounded by loved ones, can access the highest level of hospice care to manage their symptoms. Once the pain or symptoms are controlled, the patient can be transitioned to home or to another setting for extended care. There is the only inpatient center of this kind in the Boston area that is exclusively providing this level of care.

Seasons Hospice Foundation, a national charitable foundation, purchased the land and built the inpatient center and is leasing it to Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care who will direct the clinical operations and manage the facility. A team of highly-skilled healthcare professionals, which includes physicians (certified in hospice and palliative medicine), skilled nurses, certified nurse assistants, social workers, music therapists, chaplains, hospice aides and volunteers are available to help patients overcome the complex challenges of symptom management and psychosocial needs that may occur at end of life.

"Seasons Hospice Foundation works in very close partnership with Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care for the benefit of the patients, their families, and the communities we serve to improve and enhance the end of life care experience," said Greg Grabowski, President of Seasons Hospice Foundation. "The Foundation helps to grant wishes, extends support to caregivers, sponsors special programs such as a bereavement camp for children called Camp Kangaroo, and funds community education and applied research. We are excited to have a stronger connection to the community by opening this inpatient center and bringing these special programs to the Boston area."

"The Seasons Hospice Inpatient Center represents our long-awaited ability of our clinical team to provide the gold standard of inpatient hospice care for our patients and their families, offering a homelike environment to support them during their greatest period of need," said Kathy Bliss, MSN, RN, CHPCA, Executive Director of Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care. "The Milton community has embraced this project and we cannot express our gratitude enough for their extraordinary support. Every day we identify patients who would benefit from this unmet need and our ability to offer this to them as part of our extraordinary array of hospice services is a source of great excitement for all of our staff."
