SeeFile and MacMiniColo Introduce Fast Media Serving for the Creative Community

SeeFile, a developer of software for managing media files through standard web browsers, and MacMiniColo, a focused provider of colocated services based on Mac hardware running OSX, are teaming up to provide a new level of high-speed, reliable media serving for ad agencies and design firms.

/24-7PressRelease/ - BOSTON, MA, February 03, 2006 - MacMiniColo, LLC and SeeFile Software today announced that they will be teaming up to offer a hosted option for users of SeeFile's revolutionary online media management application. MacMiniColo is a world-class Internet colocation facility offering extreme bandwidth, managed uptime, and unique software tools for managing OSX-based servers in its rackmount center in Las Vegas, NV. Focused on the requirements of internet applications for the graphic arts and media, MacMiniColo's facility houses large numbers of Apple's Mac mini systems configured as servers, as well as a number of Xserve systems for high end requirements. In contrast with most colocation facilities, MacMiniColo provides a full, dedicated system for each customer, with custom software configuration and reboot via web based remote control.

SeeFile Software, founded in 2003, has developed OSX-based server software that lets professional photographers, advertising agencies, and print providers archive, upload and download images from their clients using any PC or Mac web browser. To date, the software has been sold in two formats:
by download, for installation on any G4 or G5 Mac hardware, and as part of SeeFile's Mac mini bundles ($995 and up) which combine the software with
Apple's compact, powerful Mac mini hardware. In both cases, the software is generally installed in the local area network of the purchaser's studio. This configuration, while convenient to the software's purchaser, has the limitation that the server must be accessed by their clients through the DSL or T1 bandwidth of the studio.

A growing application for SeeFile is in management of product branding information and online catalogs, where larger numbers of customers and employees must access information on the SeeFile server simultaneously. One such example is Avago, the world's largest privately held fabless semiconductor company. They have built their product catalog online using SeeFile, and are using it to offer automated distribution of image files and PDFs to distributors, employees and press. Another application requiring high internet bandwidth is field digital photography, where large numbers of images are captured at remote locations and must be uploaded as quickly as possible.

In order to meet the increased needs of such high-bandwidth, high-uptime deployments, MacMiniColo and SeeFile are teaming up to offer pre-packaged,
supported server configurations at the MacMiniColo facility. Pricing is an initial purchase of $995, followed by monthly payments of $49.95 to
include up to 5 gigabytes of monthly bandwidth, 24/7 uptime and remote control reboot software. Each Mac mini running SeeFile will be hosted at
MacMiniColo, installed and configured by the staff of the macminicolo.net deployment team.
