Tempurpedic, Inc. by way of long television infomercials, the material is now produced by literally dozens of different manufacturers around the world, and sold everywhere from Brookstone to Wal-Mart. The market awareness is big enough that the average person knows the material is beneficial to a person's health. The average person doesn't know the difference between good memory foam and bad memory foam though.
While full details of the deal have yet to be disclosed, it appears the company is moving forward with its plans. It will be something new in the industry, perhaps a move for the better.
It's a very innovative move on their (Select Foam's) part, and I think it is a great thing for the consumer, but it seems risky from the business end of it all, says long time industry veteran Thomas Wayne.
Wayne also mentioned the advent of medical endorsements when it comes to the furniture industry. You see it all over, from
Adjustable Beds to computer chairs; the whole industry is clamoring for a little legitimacy from medical professionals. It seems Select Foam has taken it to the next level. We've all heard doctors talk about the benefits of a memory foam mattress on the back, but to have one directly in front of you saying this could be a powerful thing, said Wayne.
Select Foam intends to have innovative products from a
memory foam mattress topper to vibrating pads that can be thrown on the bed. Not just products that sell well, but products that also increase a persons well being.
This is where Select Foam decided to step in and set up a sleep center with doctors that can pin point the right product for each individual that walks through the door. Time will tell, but this seems to be a huge step forward for the consumer, and possibly the start of a national trend.
