Self Improvement Giveaway Queen Accommodates The Masses

The self-appointed queen of the self improvement giveaway event has declared that her next giveaway will set the standard by which all others will follow.



    WHANGAREI, NEW ZEALAND, June 02, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Health and fitness professional Carolyn Hansen says of her latest gift giveaway event: "I listened, and what I heard time and again was that people love our giveaway events because of all the free gifts we make available. They just do not like all the special offers we have allowed our contributors to present in the past. So we are changing that. No more distractions. Just the gifts they have come looking for."

Carolyn said that she expects the number of gift contributors for her latest event to reach several hundred, and the number of gifts to go well beyond five hundred. "What we learned from past experience," she said, "was that far more people visited our events than ended up as subscribers on the lists of our contributors. When we took a closer look at the reason why, it became quite obvious that we were shooting ourselves in the foot by admitting special offers into the events."

Special offers, in giveaway events, are just full page advertisements that appear between the point of registration for a giveaway event, and the presentation of the gifts, which are always free, but which usually require the visitor to opt into a list to receive the gift. The gifts themselves are usually an ebook, a video, or perhaps a piece of software, all of which can be downloaded to the user's PC.

The trouble is that consumers often hate having to deal with viewing the full page ads first before claiming their gifts. Carolyn discovered that many visitors will abandon the event because of this, before they even see the first gift.

"When we analyzed it," said Carolyn, "it quickly became obvious what needed to change. The special offers had to go." In other words, if people want cake, she believes, then they should have it.

When the event is streamlined for consumer appeal, she says, everyone benefits. The visitors stay on the site longer and download more gifts, and the gift contributors receive more new subscribers to their list.

"For the sake of allowing our contributors to make a few dollars more per event by allowing special offers, we were losing thousands of potential sign ups," Carolyn says she will never make that mistake again in a giveaway.

She also considered removing the text advertisements that contributors ordinarily use to promote their offerings within the giveaway. But she changed her mind. "I decided that I wanted to reward contributors somehow as compensation for taking away those special offers. What I came up with was enhanced text ads."

Carolyn says her event is the first to offer "enhanced" text ads to contributors. The new format includes an optional image and up to 300 characters of text. In comparison to the tiny 70 character ads that users wrestle with when using Google Adwords and similar ad platforms, Carolyn thinks the 300 character ad is going to set the imagination of ad writers awash with possibilities.
