A graduate of Inje University as well as a diplomate through the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs, Dr. Hwang holds a PhD in emergency medicine, and he enjoys giving back to his community as a deacon with Dongkwang Presbyterian Church. His professional affiliations include the Korean Society of Emergency Medicine, where he is a fellow, as well as the Korean Society of Critical Care Medicine. Throughout his many years in the field, he has been recognized many times for his professional accomplishments including by the Gyeongsangnam-Do government in 1998 and the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs in 2012 for contributions to the development of emergency medicine. In addition to being featured in the 2nd volume of Who's Who in Asia, Dr. Hwang has been named in the 27th through 33rd volumes of Who's Who in the World.
