SEW Eurodrive Certifies Dimetix Laser Sensors for Absolute Position Monitoring

    CHESTER SPRINGS, PA, November 06, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On October 28, 2013, Dimetix USA announces that the motor drive manufacturer, SEW EURODRIVE has certified the FLS-C distance measurement device for all positioning solutions with its MOVIDRIVE and MOVIAXIS product lines.

In systems subject to slip, exact position determination via the motor encoder is not possible. An additional measurement system is therefore necessary. The FLS-C distance measurement device determines the current position of an object to be positioned quickly, accurately and without contact. The FLS-C10 laser distance sensor can measure a target moving at up to 10 meters/second at a maximum range of 500 meters with millimeter precision.

Positioning applications for the FLS-C distance measurement device exist in several industries. For instance, the FLS-C distance measurement device is a reliable absolute position encoder in an automated storage retrieval system. In crane systems, the FLS-C is used for positioning as well as ensuring controlled synchronization. The FLS-C has also been successfully implemented in systems that cut lumber and steels slabs with millimeter precision.

The FLS-C model laser measures with millimeter precision independent of color and surface. It represents a cost-effective solution even at extreme ambient temperatures as low as -40 degree C, using the optional heater.
