/24-7PressRelease/ - STATE COLLEGE, PA, May 21, 2008 - Shaner has named Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) as the 2008 beneficiary of its eighth annual Charity Golf Tournament, to be held Friday, July 25th, 2008 at the Penn State Blue and White Golf Courses in State College, PA.
"We are delighted to partner with CVIM," said Lance T. Shaner, Chairman and CEO of Shaner. "The healthcare professionals and volunteers of CVIM are a godsend to at-risk families and individuals without health insurance. The funds raised from our tournament will directly benefit those most in need of medical and dental care here in Centre County."
Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation whose primary mission is to understand and serve the health and wellness needs of uninsured individuals who live in Centre County, Pennsylvania. In 2006-2007, CVIM was responsible for providing 5,119 medical visits, including 2,220 physician appointments and 1,455 dental visits to Centre County residents without health insurance.
Sponsorships for teams of four or eight golfers are available for the July 25th tournament. Morning (7:30 AM) and afternoon (1:30 PM) shotgun start times are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tee/green sponsorships ($250), and bronze ($700) through platinum ($5,000) sponsorship levels are available. Golfers are welcome to register as individual participants ($150), as well.
A wide range of cash and other prizes will be awarded. In addition to hole-in-one cars donated by Saturn of State College, over $10,000 in both team and individual skill-related, 50/50 raffle and other prizes and gifts will be awarded. A pre-tournament, Thursday evening social and Friday evening dinner are also scheduled. For their generosity, Shaner wishes to thank Saturn of State College, as well as the Outback Steakhouse and Prospector's Allegheny Rib Company restaurant for donating meals for the event.
