SALT LAKE CITY, UT, July 9, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shannon L. Corbett, Registered Nurse for Intermountain Medical Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of nursing.

Ms. Corbett's expertise is in heart arrhythmia. She has two years of nursing experience with Internmountain Medical Center, where she works in the cardiovascular step-down unit. Her responsibilities include caring for patients recovering from open heart surgery, changing drains and tubes, assisting patients with temporary pacemakers, ensuring pain medications are balanced, and administering conscious sedation to shock the heart back to rhythm. Ms. Corbett became a nurse because she was inspired by her grandmother, LaRene Panter Corbett, who was a much-loved and respected RN for 30 nurses. She attributes her success to her hard work and determination, and to the support that she receives from her parents.

In addition to her RN, Ms. Corbett earned a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 2006 from Westminster College, where she is currently pursuing coursework in pre-medical studies. She was listed in Who's Who Among American College Students through all four years of her college career. In her spare time, Ms. Corbett volunteers with local elementary schools. In five years, she aspires to attend medical school and work in a thoracic intensive care unit.
