Sheila Deborah Singer Recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Religious Services

Sheila Singer Brings Sacred Music to Temple Avodah

OCEANSIDE, NY, February 6, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sheila Deborah Singer, Cantor for Temple Avodah, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in religious services.

Ms. Singer has served as the cantor at Temple Avodah, a center of Reform Judaism, for the past seven years. She is very proud of her job, which entails providing sacred music at all religious services, educating adult congregants, serving as the music director for both the Adult Volunteer Choir and the Junior Choir, and preparing and giving lessons to school-aged children to train them for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah. She finds this last service most rewarding and takes a lot of pride in working with families and guiding each child through this major milestone in life. Ms. Singer is also much sought after to perform weddings, funerals, unveilings and baby naming ceremonies.

Attributing her success to her patience and loving touch, Ms. Singer's career path became evident under the guidance of a female rabbi who mentored her while she attended college; she received a Bachelor of Arts in music from Scripps College in 1993 and went on to earn a master's degree in Sacred Music at the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music at Hebrew Union College. She is a member of the American Conference of Cantors. Looking ahead, Ms. Singer will continue to work at Temple Avodah. In addition, she plan to continue to branch out and perform good deeds in her community such as singing at nursing homes and senior centers.
