Sherlock Holmes Biographical Series Continues With the Consulting Detective Trilogy

"I was pulled in from the first, and had no desire to resurface." The Well Read Sherlockian

MORRISON, CO, July 15, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A few days before the New Year tolled for 2011, Darlene Cypser released the first of her biographical novels about Sherlock Holmes. In that book, The Crack in the Lens, we were introduced to 17 year old Sherlock Holmes and his family on their estate in the North Riding of Yorkshire, England. Sherlock's eldest brother, Sherrinford, is about to be married and a tutor is coming to prepare Sherlock for the university. But Sherlock himself is distracted from all this when he meets Violet Rushdale, the daughter of one of his father's tenants. Tensions mount between Sherlock and his tutor straining Sherlock's already tenuous relationship with his father until Violet, too, is pulled into the deadly gambit.

One Memorial Day weekend 2012 Ms Cypser released the first part of the sequel to the Crack in the Lens: The Consulting Detective Trilogy. In The Consulting Detective Trilogy Part I: University we follow Sherlock Holmes from Yorkshire to Cambridge where he matriculates at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge University. Still haunted by the traumatic events which occurred at the end of The Crack in the Lens, Sherlock struggles during the Michaelmas term. Dr. George Mackenzie, an alienist from a nearby asylum, helps him learn to control the turbulence in his own mind. But it is Sherlock's friendship with Victor Trevor, resulting from Trevor's dog freezing upon Sherlock's ankle one morning, which will have the most profound effect on Sherlock's life. It is Trevor's father who will first suggest to Sherlock Holmes that he should be a detective. This goal gives meaning and purpose to Sherlock's life as he has never known before. But his studies of crime and criminals soon brings him in conflict with the college officials and ultimately with his father. Disowned by his father and gated by his college, the restless Sherlock Holmes tried one more experiment before the start of the new term, with devastating results.

The next book in the series: The Consulting Detective Trilogy Part II: On Stage follows Sherlock's brief career as an actor in England and America and the cases and adventures that come his way during that time. Part II: On Stage is expected to be released in 2013. Part III: Montague Street, which covers the beginnings of Sherlock's detective career, is scheduled to be released in 2014.

The Crack in the Lens and The Consulting Detective Trilogy Part I: University are available in paperback from Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, the Mysterious Bookshop in New York City and many other booksellers. They are also available as e-books for Kindle, Nook, I-book and Kobo e-readers.
