Shishuka Malhotra Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Psychiatry and Clinical Research

    CANTON, OH, January 11, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shishuka Malhotra, MD, Psychiatrist, President and Medical Director of Neuro-Behavioral Clinical Research, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in psychiatry and clinical research.

For the past 5 years, Dr. Malhotra has led Neuro-Behavioral Clinical Research, Inc., a clinic specializing in research studies that explore the safety and efficacy of treatments intended to relieve the symptoms of certain common psychiatric disorders. As the Canton-based clinic's president, medical director and psychiatrist, she conducts break through clinical trials, works as a principal investigator, and oversees clinical patients. In these endeavors, she utilizes her expertise in operations management, psychopharmacology, the treatment of patients with psychiatric disorders, and the protocols for phase II, III and IV clinical research studies. Dr. Malhotra is currently celebrating 15 years of research, clinical and administrative experience.

Dr. Malhotra also serves as an assistant professor of psychiatry at NEOMED (formerly known as Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and Pharmacy). She has conducted trials with the University of Cincinnati, The Cleveland Clinic, and Neuro-Behavioral Clinical Research, Inc., and has been featured in various reputable psychiatry journals. Dr. Malhotra delivers presentations about her research at national and international scientific conferences and meetings. She also sits on board, committees, and as a consultant for major Pharmaceutical companies as well as for an expert in training raters nationally and internationally. Dr. Malhotra manages a private clinical practice with multiple disciplinary treatments. Attributing her success to her empathy and passion for her profession, she became involved in her field because she saw her grandmother suffering from Alzheimer's disease and it only seemed rational to study research treatment for brain diseases and hopefully contribute towards break through treatments.

Dr. Malhotra earned an MD in 1994 at MGM Medical College and did her residency in psychiatry at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2000. She served as Chief Resident and then completed a fellowship in biological psychiatry and psychopharmacological research at the University of Cincinnati in 2001. Dr. Malhotra is a member of the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology and a former president of the Northern Ohio Chapter of the American Psychiatric Association. In recognition of her work, she was honored as a Professional of the Year in Psychiatry and Clinical Research by Cambridge Who's Who in 2010. Looking forward, Dr. Malhotra hopes to conduct epidemiological clinical research, naturalistic follow up studies, to assess, prevalence and prognosis of mental disorders and hopefully contributes to prevention and early intervention.
