Earlier in his career, he joined the University of Mississippi as a house officer in urology. Additionally, he served at Duke University for one year as a fellow in genitourinary reconstruction and cancer survivorship; he is the only one in the state that specializes in this particular field. Dr. Gupta was inspired to join the medical field because of his father, who works in internal medicine.
A graduate of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Mississippi, and Duke University, Dr. Gupta holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, as well as a higher degree in urology. In order to remain active and engaged in the field, he affiliates himself with the American Urological Association and the Society of Genital Urinary Reconstructive Surgeons. Certified through the American Board of Urology, Dr. Gupta has contributed to numerous professional journals on such topics as risk factors for removal or revision of penile prostheses in the veteran population and the utilization of surgical procedures and racial disparity in the treatment of urinary incontinence after prostatectomy. Looking ahead, he intends to continue honing his expertise in the field.
