Allgon Microwave antenna
- STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, November 30, 2005 - Advantech AMT, the manufacturer of satellite and terrestrial wireless communication equipment with corporate headquarters in Montreal, Canada, is pleased to announce an agreement with Simply Broadband Ltd for the supply of Microwave Ethernet solutions through its Allgon Microwave AB subsidiary. Advantech AMT recently re-launched Allgon Microwave following a trade acquisition.
Simply Broadband Ltd is currently launching Wireless Broadband network services in Uppsala, Sweden's fourth largest metropolitan area. The network will cover the whole region with high-speed Mobile Internet access using a WiMAX based solution. Uppsala is the first network covered in Sweden by Simply Broadband Ltd, with more regions already in the planning stage.
Under the agreement between Advantech AMT and Simply Broadband Ltd, Advantech's Allgon Microwave AB, will be the exclusive supplier of Ethernet microwave radio communication solutions to Simply Broadband Ltd. This will include the unique Allgon Microwave Ethernet LAN-100 product for the network backhaul, as well as a management solution and services for management implementation in the Uppsala project.

Simply Broadband Ltd is using a WiMAX broadband access system, with Allgon Microwave links providing the backhaul to sites where no fibre is available. The product's internal network switch significantly reduces the need for additional external equipment at so-called tail sites.
