The scholarships are named after Mr. William Ritchie, SimplyCast's Chairman of the Board, Dr. Dawn Jutla, a professor in the Department of Finance, Information Systems, and Management Science at Saint Mary's University and Dr. Porter Scobey, a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computing Science at Saint Mary's University.
Each has been an integral part of SimplyCast's growth, either in an advisory role or as an educator. Several of the company's current employees, including CEO and President, Saeed El-Darahali, are graduates of Saint Mary's University.

The creation of the $500 scholarships were a highlight of the company's Career Network Launch Event held earlier this year where the honorable Percy Paris, Minister of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism, spoke to potential graduates at St, Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
