Skwoosh already offers an extensive line of gel cushions including camping seats, stadium and bleacher seating and canoe and kayak cushions. Skwoosh has now made available a gel seat designed specifically for recreational and professional pilots.
The Skwoosh Pilot's Seat is built around TekPad, I-Tek's patented Ultra-Lite gel. TekPad gel is the temperature stable and non-toxic composite that gives Skwoosh cushions their unique ability to conform to the contours of the body. TekPad gel has no memory and will not mold into the shape of an individual regardless of use. TekPad gel is a mainstay in the durable medical equipment (DME) market, where it is used to treat and prevent bedsores in patients in wheelchairs, hospital beds, positioning devices and braces.
Like the entire line of Skwoosh cushions, the pilot cushion reduces pressure on the ischial tuberosity, aka the "sitz" bones located at the lowest part of the pelvis. Skwoosh TekPad gel packs sit directly under the pelvis and help maintain circulation and prevent numbness and discomfort in the legs and lower back, regardless of the length of the flight.
The Skwoosh pilot cushion was designed with the needs of aviation professionals in mind. It fits all aircraft seats - even those with a central harness attachment - and has a non-skid bottom so that the cushion stays in place throughout the flight. The Pilot's Seat has a low, ½" profile and can be easily stowed in a carry-on bag, briefcase or chart case.
