Sky Trail Wisconsin Opens for Extra Summer Fun

The 45-foot tall aerial adventure ropes course and zip line attraction brings new energy to the Milwaukee County Zoo on May 7.

MILWAUKEE, WI, April 22, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Reach new heights of fun at Sky Trail Wisconsin, the Milwaukee County Zoo's summer attraction open on Sat., May 7th. The Zoo attraction was initially installed in 2011 and continues to operate every May through October bringing new energy to the Zoo each summer. It is the ultimate adventure add-on to your normal day trip to the Zoo.

The Sky Trail ropes course stands 45 feet high and has 3 levels of elements like zig-zag beams, criss-cross angled rope ladders, cargo nets and more. Participants have to be 48 inches tall to experience it alone, or 42 inches tall with a paid chaperone. Participants are able to choose their path through the course and go at their own pace for $12.

"You get 30 minutes or so to go up and play. It's like a jungle gym in the sky," said Caitlin Hogue, Sky Trail Wisconsin Manager. "It's a great activity for children and their parents to interact and challenge each other."

Another unique experience can be had on the zip line. Participants are harnessed in safety gear and soar 250 feet across the entrance of the zoo and back for a 500 foot adventure at treetop level. This activity is $15.

If you're afraid of heights, don't fear. You are harnessed in the entire time with safety gear. The overhead tracking system prevents participants from disconnecting their sling line from the course at any time. Certified course operators are also on the course at all times.

"By the end of your experience, you'll be a pro, and you'll love it," Caitlin said.

There's also a scaled down version of the full-sized ropes course called Sky Tykes for kids less than 4 feet tall. The platforms are less than 3 feet from the ground so the young adventurers can traverse similar Sky Trail elements at a comfortable height for $8.

Sky Trail Wisconsin will be open weekends only 10am to 4pm throughout May and then daily 10am to 4:30pm Memorial Day through Labor Day, weather permitting.
