/24-7PressRelease/ - February 20, 2007 - Nutrition Breakthroughs, creator of the all-natural Sleep Minerals product, has redesigned its popular supplement to achieve even better results for a deep and relaxing night's sleep. This is timely news, as according to the National Sleep Foundation, almost six out of ten Americans are experiencing sleeplessness at least a few nights a week.

Sleep Minerals contains well-researched, highly absorbable, fast-acting forms of the best-known minerals for relaxation - magnesium and calcium. Based on continuing research done into nutritional studies, the company has discovered that a greater ratio of magnesium to calcium delivers an even more powerful relaxing effect for sounder sleep. As a result, they have created a new combination of minerals in the product.

Insomnia is one of the central symptoms of chronic magnesium deficiency. Sleep in magnesium deficiency is usually agitated with frequent nighttime awakenings. On the other hand, a high magnesium, low aluminum diet has been found to be associated with deeper, less interrupted sleep. This was proven in the study titled "Effects of trace element nutrition on sleep patterns in adult women," done by James Penland of the Human Nutrition Research Center in North Dakota.

The unique form of magnesium used in Sleep Minerals is magnesium chloride. It has been shown to play a key role in achieving higher-quality sleep. In one study of more than 200 patients, Dr. W. Davis used magnesium chloride as a possible means of combating insomnia. The researcher reported that sleep was induced rapidly, was uninterrupted, and waking tiredness disappeared in 99 percent of the patients. In addition, anxiety and tension diminished during the day. (W.H. Davis and F. Ziady, "The Role of Magnesium in Sleep," Montreal Symposium, 1976.)

While Sleep Minerals now features a greater ratio of magnesium to calcium, calcium still remains an important ingredient in the product. One study that illustrates the reason for this is a long-term research project that ran for four years (Spencer et al., Veterans Administration Hospital, 1976-1980). The researchers found that when simply increasing magnesium intake alone, without also giving calcium, sufficient magnesium was not retained in the body. These two minerals are synergistic and aid in each other's absorption, so long-term use of one without the other may result in a deficiency.

The form of calcium used in Sleep Minerals is calcium lactate gluconate. It is a fine, white, odorless powder. A relatively new form of calcium, it's emerging as a popular choice for fortifying beverages (such as orange juice and sports drinks), because of its ability to completely dissolve in any temperature of liquid. Research has uncovered that calcium helps to strengthen bones, lower blood pressure, alleviate symptoms of premenstrual syndrome, and protect against colon cancer.

In addition to soothing one to sleep, magnesium chloride can also provide a variety of other health benefits including improved digestion, a stronger immune system, calmer nervous system, lower blood sugar levels, healthier bones, and stronger nails and hair.

The newly formulated Sleep Minerals has greatly improved the sleep of Ron Hartwell of Los Angeles, CA. Hartwell teaches at a private school and also owns the Math Doctor Tutoring Service. Between getting up at 5:00 a.m. for class and then tutoring late into the night, he has experienced difficulty sleeping. He says: "With more magnesium in it, the new version of Sleep Minerals improves the quality and deepness of my sleep even better. My sleep has been so sound that I wake up less and feel very well rested."

Sleep Minerals is the first product of its kind with ingredients that immediately dissolve in any temperature of liquid -- without the need to boil water. It is taken as a drink in the evening to assist sound, deep sleep.

Those suffering with insomnia may find that this product not only helps them sleep better, but provides them with many additional health benefits as well.
