'So You Think You Can Dance Canada' Alum Brings Her Talents To 'Glee's' Final Season

Dancer Amanda Cleghorn will perform in "Glee" episode

Being a part of the episode gave me the opportunity to apply my technique, creativity and expression as a classically trained dancer.

LOS ANGELES, CA, February 11, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Internationally renowned dancer Amanda Cleghorn, who finished as the favorite female dancer on season three of "So You Think You Can Dance Canada," is bringing her talents to FOX's hit TV series, "Glee." Cleghorn will appear in the role of dancer on the show's 10th episode of season six, which airs at 9 p.m. EST, Friday, March 6 on FOX.

"I was very excited to have a chance to perform on a show I've been a fan of for years," Cleghorn said. "The choreographers, dancers, cast and crew made it an incredible environment to work in. Being a part of the episode gave me the opportunity to apply my technique, creativity and expression as a classically trained dancer."

"Glee" choreography assistant/dancer Brittany Parks said, "Amanda is a phenomenal dancer and always works extra hard in rehearsal. She is extremely talented, but she is also such a joy to have around on set. Her positive attitude and kind disposition are contagious. Amanda was such an asset to have on this project and I have no doubt that she will continue to work and make lasting impressions."

Now in its final season, "Glee" was created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. The musical comedy drama has won four Golden Globes and entertained millions of worldwide viewers since its premiere in 2009.

The title, plot and singles for season six, episode ten have not yet been announced. The final season is slated for a 13-episode run.

Cleghorn's role on "Glee" arrives on the heels of an extraordinary 2014 for the 5-foot-6 Toronto native. She danced in a critical role for Taylor Swift's Red Tour, which featured choreography by Tyce Diorio and had 86 shows spanning the U.S., Canada, Australia, Europe and Asia from March, 2013 to June, 2014. The tour for the multi-platinum selling, seven-time Grammy Award winning Swift returned more than $150 million in box office sales.

After that, Cleghorn was a lead dancer in Rob Cantor's "Shia LaBeouf Live" comedy sketch that's gone viral on YouTube with more than 11 million views. The video's choreography was done by Stacey Tookey and the song tells the comedic, fictitious story of a cannibalistic Shia LaBeouf, who has a cameo at the end.

Chief among her many international achievements as a dancer, Cleghorn rose to fame on the CTV's reality show, "So You Think You Can Dance Canada." The show was a competition that mined major Canadian cities in search of elite dance talents who competed in front of a national television audience.

Dancers competed for votes from the viewing public and for the approval of the distinguished judging panel comprised of experts Jean-Marc Genereux, Tre Armstrong, Luther Brown and Blake McGrath. It was hosted by Leah Miller, a former ETalk correspondent and MuchMusic VJ. Cleghorn, then 18 years old, finished one of four finalists, and was voted the No. 1 female dancer for season three.

Cleghorn's also collaborated with Taylor Swift as a dancer in her music videos for the platinum-selling singles "22," "Red" and most recently as a ballerina in "Shake It Off." She's performed in a "Dancing with the Stars" promo for the Warner Bros. film, "Rock of Ages," and in a promo commercial for the Oscars with Ellen DeGeneres.

Cleghorn was featured as lead female in Hedley's (Universal Music Canada) music video for "Kiss You Inside Out," which has 4.8 million views on YouTube and sold more than three million copies in Canada. Cleghorn also judges and dances beside world renowned choreographers at both NUVO and JUMP dance conventions such as the Emmy award-winning Mia Michaels, Emmy nominated Mandy Moore, Stacey Tookey and Travis Wall, to name a few.

Further punctuating her sustained success, Cleghorn has danced on the UK's renowned hit TV series "The X Factor," in Stacey Tookey's "Moment's Defined" and she performed as the female lead/dancer in ABCSpark's new digital special, "RISE."

Her film and TV credits include dancer roles in "Make Your Move" (CJ Entertainment), "Honey" (Universal Pictures) starring Jessica Alba, "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam" (Disney), "Desperately Seeking Santa" (ABC), "The L.A. Complex" (Epitome Pictures), "Come Dance With Me" (The Hallmark Channel), "Canada's Got Talent" (City-TV) and The CW's two-time Primetime Emmy nominated "Nikita."
