DevCreek.com provides an open, free service that helps software development teams monitor, analyze and learn from metrics collected by their ongoing project activities. By providing real-time feedback and aggregated historical project data, DevCreek.com aims to establish project and community-based metrics that encourage good software development practices. Metrics are interpreted and corrective action taken on current projects to drive greater business benefits, or used for planning purposes on future projects.
"A few months ago, DevCreek.com started to receive usage data from the production servers of a university student portal here in Toronto. It has long been frustrating for teams to not know how their applications are behaving when running on customer's production systems, and which features ended up being most useful to the end users of the system." The collection of the 250 million data points for DevCreek represents records of specific events measured by the DevCreek agents since the service went live in Q3 of 2006. This includes items such as the start of a test method execution, a change to a bug issue, or a hit on an instrumented production system; all valuable data for developers, QA teams and project managers.
