NASHVILLE, TN, April 22, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The SongDoor 2010 International Songwriting Competition is now open for submissions. Awards totaling more than $39,000 (including a single-song publishing contract) and a new judge have also been announced. Complete information is available at SongDoor's website: http://www.songdoor.com.

"Our entries continued to grow last year, in spite of the economy," said SongDoor president, Tony Zotta. "Most other major competitions' entry numbers were down anywhere from 20% to 50%, which tells us our entrants have a demonstrated loyalty to SongDoor. We appreciate that immensely and will continue to deliver great value for the entry fee, which is still $10." All entrants receive a free self-paced online songwriting course from SongU.com (valued at $39.95), plus music notation software which is valued at $79.95. No special membership is required and anyone 18 or older may enter.

This year's competition, in partnership with SongU.com, 16 Ton Studios, Hard Twist Music-BMI, MasterWriter, NueWave Audio, Broadjam and Tanager Audioworks, runs through November 15. Last year's Grand Award winner Robert Gillies, a native Scot who's currently attending the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Massachusetts, won with his perfect soft-rocker "Saturday In June." Robert currently has a video of his great demo experience at 16 Ton Studios on his website (http:/www.robertgillies.com).

A new judge joins the SongDoor panel this year: Nancy Moran, singer/songwriter/author/speaker/consultant and member of the famed Four Bitchin' Babes. Nancy is currently out promoting her new album with the Babes, "Diva Nation," as well as her latest acoustic record, "Something Old, Something New." Judges Brady Seals, Robert Reynolds, Tony Raine, Joe Beck, Jason Blume, Dennis Winters and Steve Avedis are with SongDoor again this year.

Entrants are eligible to win the Grand Award, valued at approximately USD $7,745 in music merchandise and services, including a single-song publishing contract with Hard Twist Music-BMI (owned by mega-hit songwriter Bill Shore), a full-band private session demo at 16 Ton Studios, a one-year full-access membership to SongU.com, a copy of MasterWriter 2.0 songwriting software, a suite of songwriting software from Tanager Audioworks, a Primo MoB membership to Broadjam, a PUGS leather gear bag and an autographed copy of two of hitmaker Jason Blume's best-selling songwriting books. Six Category Winners each receive a valuable package of awards valued at almost $5,320 including a top-shelf guitar or vocal studio demo produced at NueWave Audio, the Tanager Audioworks software suite and memberships to both SongU.com and Broadjam.

Songs may be entered in six different categories: Christian, Country, Pop, Rock/Alt, Soft Rock and Instrumental. Entries are accepted online or by mail through November 15, 2010.
